1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro — MPG & Fuel Facts NO OFFICIAL EPA RATING

The EPA's public fuel-economy dataset only goes back to 1984 — the 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro predates it, so there is no government-rated MPG number for this car anywhere, including here.

Estimated 9–20 MPG combined.

A Hot Rod magazine test of a 1969 Z/28 (350 V8) measured 9.35 mpg worst / 13.21 mpg best / 11.06 mpg average, while a period Car Life test found the base 250ci six delivered 'surprising fuel economy' without printing an exact number; the top of the range comes from modern Fuelly owner-logged data for six-cylinder cars, not a period test.

This is our estimate, not an EPA rating — built from the period road tests, marque-specialist guides and corroborated owner reports cited below, hedged where sources vary. Treat it as a ballpark for planning, not a spec to rely on.

First-generation Camaros offered 230ci and 250ci inline-sixes alongside 302ci, 327ci, 350ci, and 396ci V8s, spanning a huge range of states of tune from mild six-cylinder commuters to the solid-lifter Z/28.

The Hot Rod magazine test of a Jan. 1969 Z/28 (350ci, 3.73:1 axle) is a genuine, quoted period figure: best 13.21 mpg, poorest 9.35 mpg, average 11.06 mpg. A Car Life test (March 1967) comparing a six-cylinder car to an SS350 side by side noted the six's 'surprising fuel economy' but did not print an exact figure in the retrievable text, so no hard six-cylinder period number is cited here.

Modern Fuelly owner data (1969 model, 22 logged owners) shows a 10.25 mpg combined average overall, breaking down roughly as 8-12 mpg for 307/big-block cars, 12-17 mpg for 327s, and 15-20 mpg for six-cylinder cars -- directionally consistent with the period sources above but itself modern real-world data, not a magazine test.

Hagerty's 1967-69 Camaro buyer's guide was checked directly and contains engine and production specs only -- no MPG content -- so it is not used as a sourcing basis here despite being a natural place to look.
